The library’s collections have been moved to the new Gunnison County Public Library. Nearly all of the new library’s furniture has been placed and computers have been installed. Next week we will be working on completing the construction punch list, landscaping, and other finishing touches. We hope to confirm an opening day for the new library next week. It is not yet possible for us to confirm an opening day for the new library. While we wait, the Ann Zugelder Library at 307 N Wisconsin St. will be open on Tuesday, September 6th, and until the new library opens to the public, for people to pick up requested items, access computers, print, or use the WiFi network. Full library services remain available at your Crested Butte Library location, 504 Maroon Ave.

The Ann Zugelder Library at 307 N. Wisconsin Street will be temporarily closed from Tuesday, August 30 until Tuesday, September 6. During this closure the libraries’ collections and computers will be moved to the new library.

On Tuesday, September 6, the Ann Zugelder Library at 307 N. Wisconsin Street will reopen to provide the community with access to requested library materials (holds), computers, printing services, and WiFi.

Substantial completion of construction on the new library has been achieved and we hope to open the doors of the new Gunnison County Public Library to the community on Monday, September 12.

Please also remember that your libraries’ Crested Butte location at 504 Maroon is open to and available during this transition. Digital library services are also available through the libraries’ website: gunnisoncountylibraries.org

Tuesday, August 23

Last week book stacks were constructed and furniture was delivered to the new library. Gunnison County Library District will be able to nearly double its collections in the coming years! The new library’s network connection was established, paving the way for new computers and audio visual equipment that will live throughout the library and serve people of all ages. The libraries’ collections will be moved from the current library to the new library next week. If you have holds that are ready to be picked up, please come get these materials and be sure to turn in your summer reading materials for final prizes. The Gunnison Public Library will be closed from Tuesday, August 30th until the new Gunnison County Public Library opens its doors to the community. Regular public library services will be available to everyone at the Crested Butte Library. The date for the grand opening celebration at the new library has not yet been set but will be soon.

Monday, August 15:

Furniture and book stacks arrived at the new Gunnison County Public Library today, Monday, August 15, 2022. Great progress towards substantial completion of construction continues inside and outside the new library. Fingers are crossed that the library will be moved by the end of the month. We can not yet confirm an opening date or date for a community celebration. We are getting closer!

Friday, August 5:

The new Gunnison County Public Library is still on track for substantial completion of construction on or before September 10, 2022. The opening date of the new library and the date of the grand opening party have not yet been finalized. We will be issuing a communication through email newsletter and social media each week to update the community on the progress of their new library. We look forward to having a firm open date in the near future. The project remains ahead of schedule and on budget.
