Please join us at Izakaya at 5:30 pm on Thursday, January 22 for the next meeting of the Books-n-Bars. We will be discussing:

Raising Hare, a Memoir by Chloe Dalton

In her memoir Raising Hare, political advisor Chloe Dalton recounts the unexpected bond formed with a newborn wild hare (leveret) she rescued during the 2021 lockdown in the English countryside. Fearing for the vulnerable creature’s life, Dalton brought it home and, through dedicated trial and error, managed to rear it, intending to return it to the wild. Instead, the hare became her long-term companion, freely wandering the fields by night and returning to her house by day. The book chronicles this extraordinary human-animal relationship, exploring themes of freedom, trust, and our connection with the natural world, while also delving into the rich folklore and historical perceptions of hares.

This group *typically* meets every 4th Thursday of the month from 5:30-7 pm at local watering holes. They read mainly contemporary fiction, with a few non-fiction titles every once in a while. Copies of books are placed on hold for book club participants and are available to check out at the library. Titles for the next month’s meeting are announced a month before. They will also be available in e-edition, audiobook, large print, etc.
