Event Details

Gunnison County Libraries is pleased to announce that TaraShea Nesbit’s novel The Wives of Los Alamos has been selected as this year’s One Book One Valley community read. Nesbit’s novel received starred reviews from Publisher’s Weekly and Kirkus Reviews.

Set in the high desert of northern New Mexico, the novel tells the story of the women behind the men building the atomic bomb. Told in one collective female voice, the book examines the secrecy surrounding the work at Los Alamos, the hardships and the tedium of life, and the exhilaration and fascination the women experienced being “a part of something larger than themselves.”

Nesbit will be visiting the library to read from and speak about her book, and answer questions.
