Local historian Larry McDonald, will present on the fascinating tale of the Gunnison-Beckwith Expedition of 1853, and the subsequent massacre of Captain Gunnison and seven members of his party. Learn who Captain Gunnison was, along with the men who were members of the expedition ordered to survey a route for the transcontinental railroad. Find out what led up to the Massacre, if there were any survivors, who committed the horrible atrocity, and what the legacy of the expedition is today.

This event is free and open to all.
