89 percent of Southwest Colorado high school students perceive smoking cigarettes as risky but only 49 percent believe vaping e-cigarettes is risky. This discussion is designed to give adults and youth in the Gunnison community the knowledge to identify cultural trends and health effects of vaping, as well as the skills and resources need to have a conversations with youth about the use of electronic nicotine devices. Kyle Tibbett from Gunnison County Health & Human Services will lead this interactive discussion and Allison Chick, from Moore Orthopedics, will contribute the medical perspective.
Kyle is a Tobacco Health Educator and Adult Prevention Specialist and his presentation will cover the facts, trends, health effects, and marketing strategies related to vaping and e-cigarettes.
Allison Chick is a Certified Physician Assistant. She earned her Masters at Red Rocks PA Program in Denver and her Bachelors at UC Santa Barbara. Alison recently moved to Crested Butte from Breckenridge with her husband. Prior to becoming a PA, Alison was an EMT for the Breckenridge Ski Patrol and a family practice medical assistant. Her special medical interests include prevention and lifestyle management, nutrition and weight loss, women’s health, and orthopedics.
