Event Details

Join us on Wednesday, January 25 at 6 pm at the Gunnison Library or virtually for a foreign policy discussion about Energy Geopolitics.

About the topic:

Access to oil and gas has long held an influence over the politics of individual nations and their relations with others. But as more countries move toward sustainability energy, and supply chain shortages affect the availability of oil and gas, how will this change the way in which the United States interacts with the outside world? (by Carolyn Kissane. Full article PDF here)

. . .

This part is part of an eight-week discussion series called Great Decisions hosted by the Gunnison Library, in conjunction with the Foreign Policy Association. Great Decisions is the largest discussion program on world affairs in the United States.

Participants will read a short article each week to familiarize themselves with the topic. Then at the meeting, we will watch a short documentary video clip and engage in a moderated discussion.

A folder with PDFs of all reading materials (which are produced by the Foreign Policy Association) are available by clicking this link  or you can visit the library for hard copies.

The next discussions will focus on the following topics:

February 1: War Crimes

February 8: China and the U.S.

February 15: Economic Warfare

February 22: Politics in Latin America

March 1: Global Famine

March 8: Iran at the Crossroads

March 15: Climate Mitigation
