Nathan Kubes is the featured artist at the Gunnison Library for the month of September. Nathan is well known for his large detailed murals around Gunnison, as well as his intricate pen and ink drawings with inspiring quotes that serve as reminders to do good, suffer less and observe beauty more. Nathan is a local artist who moved to Gunnison in 2000 after serving on the fast attack submarine USS Newport News. A graduate of Western State Colorado University, Nathan had his love of art cultivated by the art department and Gunnison community. In 2005, he painted a mural which can be seen across the street from the library on the back of Miller Furniture called ‘The Mountain Lion Mural’. He also painted ‘The Sea of Chaos and Infinite Possibility’ in Western’s Leslie J. Savage Library. Nathan will display his Pen and Ink drawings and put up a special interactive children’s exhibit so the entire family can enjoy the evening’s opening.
