Susan Crawford is the featured artist at the Gunnison Library for the month of August. Crawford’s vibrant use of color and the special free flow of pigment on paper expresses her deep love of the southwestern landscape and its varied cultures. Her greatest joy is her ability to translate nature through the imagination of the psyche. Thus creating new truths that transcend both.
Her soul became entwined with the indigenous spirits of the southwest in early childhood, having made their acquaintance early on during many travels with her parents exploring the southwestern Reservations.
Of her painting, Robert Jackson, Sedona Artist of note says; “… it evokes a sense of peace inside me- a meditative bliss.”
Susan works in many fields, watercolor and monotype take up most of her creative energy. She also is a Spinner, Weaver, Knitter, Designer and Writer. She has won awards in all these fields, and has been featured in various publications as well.
